Our Story

I grew up in the beautiful, agricultural rich region of Oregon called the Willamette Valley on my family’s blueberry and blackberry farm. Summers were spent working day and night to harvest the berries and with 11 siblings working together, there was never a dull moment. Some of my fondest memories were endless days of sunshine, blood, sweat and tears from a hard days work, and plenty of time around the patio discussing the happenings on the farm and bonding over mom’s delicious dinner and of course a bowl of fresh, sweet blueberries.

It wasn’t until I got married and moved to Ohio that I realized how much I missed the freedom to pick and eat as many fresh berries as my belly would allow during the summer. Pint after pint I tried to convince myself that these store-bought blueberries were comparable to those from home, but I found myself disappointed by the lack of consistency. I didn’t have the same trust that the farmers were growing and handling the fruit the way I knew it should be. I also questioned how long the pint of blueberries had been sitting on the shelf at the grocery store or stuffed away in a warehouse or sea container. After hearing my wishes for blueberries from home and experiencing the difference for himself, my husband arranged a direct shipment of our first pallet of fresh-picked Oregon blueberries.

Our desire is to give each one of you the opportunity to join our journey as we indulge in some of Oregon’s finest fresh berries.

Our Roots Run Deep

  • Sinn Farms was established in 1968 by my Grandpa, and although berries were not part of the original plan he farmed many other crops including oats, barley and wheat. It wasn’t until 1976 that my dad(Tom) began his career on the farm, and planted a variety of different crops over the years, some included pie pumpkins, cauliflower, onions and strawberries. In 1982 they phased out of vegetable farming and embarked on a new journey in the berry industry. They first planted Marionberries, and then diversified into blueberries in ‘89. The berry fever never grew cold, as it has become the main crop over 30 years later.

  • I don’t think my dad ever imagined what his life would look like 40 years after he began his career in agriculture, but with a loving wife, 12 children + in-laws, 22 grandchildren and plenty of farm animals running around, all glory goes to God for His provision and faithfulness over the years. The farm is now accompanied by all 7 of my brothers and their families’, although the rest of us siblings get in on the action as much as possible. The boys have grown and expanded the farm over the years, bringing only the finest fresh blueberries and blackberries to the communities they serve.

  • Life changed when I moved to Ohio and was no longer a part of daily life on the farm. I liken my parents home to a beehive where there was always a buzz of activity, both from farm equipment and people. I longed for my husband and kids to know what life on the farm was like, I guess thats what happens when farming is in your roots—it runs deep. Our desire is to bring one of my favorite childhood memories right here to NE Ohio so you too can get a taste of life on the berry farm!
